Will the chemicals affect my garden or is OK to use the swimming pool water? Please provide resources if you can. Thanks!

umm that would be a little bizarre but ya, the chemicals could possibly do damage. that's my guess.

I have been using it for years with no problem what so ever. Yes you can safely use it.

When my kids were smaller, I had one of those large above ground pools that we drained into the lawn and shrub beds at the end of the season without any problem. However, I let the pool stand for a week first to let the chlorine evaporate out before draining.

I would not however drain it into the vegetable garden or flower beds ~ if you have ever done ecology experiments involving capillary action or osmosis, you would discover that the plants draw up the chemicals along with the water up into the stems and flower which will be transmitted to whomever eats it.

If your pool water contains chlorine, I wouldn't advise putting it in your garden.

Absolutely NOT, unless the chlorine is first carefully removed from the water using a treatment for fishponds first (which allow the chlorine and other compounds to be rendered harmless). Chlorine is a sterilizer! It will kill all the good bacteria and damage the roots of the plants that come into contact with it!

Chlorine is already in municipal tap water, but in small quatities (and even then care must be teken to neutralize it when used in fish ponds!). But Chlorine in pool water is at very much higher levels, and is definitely toxic to plant and animal life. You will harm your soil and your plants if you use it without first neutralizing the chlorine.
