What is the best herbicide to buy that will kill dollar weed without doing too much damage to my grass? I live in North Florida.

Get some broadleaf weed spray and use it according to directions (Spectracide, etc.). You will probalby have to do it more than once, because dollar weed is hardy.

Round-up will do the job.
It will kill the weed and any other grass that it touches. If you are careful not to over spray it should be OK. Also, can you pick the seed pods before the open? |

All herbicides are going to damage your lawn. The only way to truly get rid of dollar weed is to dig out every little piece of the plant. You can use herbicides to kill, but you need to buy a good pre-emergant to put down on your yard after you spray it to keep it from coming back.

If you have Dollar Weed, you probably have Nutgrass too, right? Hit the Nutgrass with Manage and shazzam the Dollar Weed starts to decline too. Roundup will kill the good grass and hardly even phase the Dollar Weed, so don't use Roundup.
Most importantly, you are watering too much! Cut way back on irrigation. If you are not irrigating, put in a French drain to better drain your lawn where the Dollar weed is the worst. |
